My refrigerator has been making some strange noises. I downloaded the manual which led me to the ice maker. People in the southwest normally can't use a ice maker without a reverse osmosis filter in front of it. I quickly disabled the ice maker which took care of part of the problem. As I flipped through the manual I came across a energy efficiency tip that is just pure gold. "Every month clean the door seals". It never even occurred to me that the door seals could get dirty causing the door to not close tightly. Upon looking at my seals I found a embarrassing pile of crumbs in the upper seals of both the refrigerator and freezer door. I'll break out the kill-o-watt again and see how the power draw looks.

Kent sent me the long rubber door seal - "D" shaped- right after I returned from Backus with the new Scamp. He asked to NOT install it for 3 months to allow the door to fully cure. I installed it about 9 months later. My door got VERY wet during a pull through Illinois during a strong crosswind rain and prompted me to make this change! I used Vaseline on the bottom right portion of the door to keep the door from "pushing" away the rubber seal. This is a much-needed modification that should be figured out at the factory!
