Meal Help Needed! (Jan-April, 2017)

We are currently looking for help in providing meals for the students this season.  Please volunteer by filling in the meal volunteer spreadsheet here.

During the build season the team works every night (except Fridays) from 3 - 9 p.m. and Saturdays  9 - 3 p.m.  For the last three seasons, we have had meals at the school on Mondays, Wednesdays and lunch on Saturday. We would like to continue this year but we need your help.

We need parent volunteers to prepare dinners and bring them to the school for approximately 6:00 p.m. Each night, we have 20 - 30 team members working and it is wonderful if a meal is provided so they can eat a nutritious meal and not have to leave to purchase food. Having a team meal available allows the team to maximize work time in the evening and also provides an opportunity to teammates to enjoy a meal together.  Over past seasons we have found this to be invaluable.

The price for meals is set on a cost recovery basis.  Generally we try to keep this price to $2 - $5. Please save your receipts so that we can reimburse you. Meals that have worked well in past years are: chili, pasta, tacos, casseroles, sandwiches and soups. Some parents chose to order food in and that is fine as well.

Volunteer

Runnymede Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team.  In FRC, students need the support of industry mentors as well as community members as they learn to raise funds, market their abilities, build a robot, engage with the community and ultimately compete in competitions.

It takes a community to run a successful robotics team.

Please consider volunteering for one of the following roles - or make up your own role on the team.  Volunteers can apply here.

Mentor a Sub-Team

Mentors for the sub-teams can be industry experts, or just parents with no experience.  If you are interested in one of the sub-teams (like building a robot), then sign up to help out.  Experienced mentors will be there to help you learn the ropes and guide you through your first FIRST season.

Provide a Meal (Jan-Mar)

Fueling the team is an important part of success.  Meals are provided on a cost-recovery basis for team members on Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat during the build season (Jan-Mar).  Meals are typically $3-$5, and should be simple and nutritious.  The price is set by the parent volunteers to cover the cost of ingredients.  Please consider signing up to bring in a meal for the team.

Sponsorship

It is expensive to build complex robots and to compete in FRC competitions.  Each year, the team raises money from sponsors and donors.  The money raised is critical to the success of the team.  Please let us know if you can put us in contact with potential sponsors or donors.

To volunteer, please email us: runnymederobotics(at)gmail.com.  (Replace the word (at) with @).
