And then in Miles Davis fusion band in the early 70's. He started his own solo projects already in early 70's (Facing You 1971). The 1st major live solo concert was in Switzerland 1973 (Bremen - Lausanne) and after that came this famous Koln Concert. Jarrett plays very romantic, beautiful melodies, and he makes it with breath taking intensity. I bought this double LP in mid 80's but I had it already on tape in the 70's (from my brother-in-law) - never seen Jarrett live. --------------- Keith Jarrett: Facing You 1971 In Front (10'07), Ritooria (5'50) Lalene (8'30), My Lady; My Child (7'20) Landscape For Future Earth (3'30) Starbright (5'03), Vapallia (3'51), Semblence (3') Keith Jarrett piano, composer Prod. Before this I heard him already in Charles Lloyds quartet (DeJohnette was there too!) and then in Miles bands. In solo piano. he really swings! Manfred Eicher Recorded May 1971 ECM 1021 LP 27.4.1973 26 mk H:ki Duo with Jack DeJohnette: the guys knew each other already from the mid 60's from Charles Lloyd quartet. Jarrett plays here e-piano and e-organ - he left both away soon, and played later only acoustic - that's why this is very intresting record. Sounds very improvisatory and fresh. Specially the wooden flute played by Jarrett is very expressive. The cover painting by Leena Westerlund (the name sounds very Finnish/Swedish) is only in the European edition. --------------------- Ralph Towner: Diary 1973 1. Dark Spirit 7'18, 2. G-String Heaven
G-String Heaven
12/27/2008 ----- ab800 at full power camera left, sb80 behind all guitars pointed at wall at 1/16 bare bulb ----- so yes, the rumors are true. i have g-strings. and i play with them, too. heck, i even have spares in the drawer right next to me in case i break one. and when i put them on, i like them nice and tight... but not TOO tight. see, THIS is why i'm a photographer and not a comedian. so all you funny guys out there, yall are safe... i'm not looking to replace you. photographers are another story altogether... so from front to back, left to right: crafted in cordoba, spain, a REALLY nice flamenco guitar. it SINGS... a yamaha classical guitar. it holds its tuning and sounds great, even strummed. a jackson electric, it's the only one of my seven guitars (the other 3 are packed up) that has ever been played with a pick. a takamine guitar with a built-in pickup, it's got a nice tinny sound that's perfect for distinct, crisp leads. the three guitars on the left have never been touched by a pick. i'm self-taught (and i still suck), but one thing i learned early was that it was MUCH harder to play fast using two (or even three) fingers than it was using a pick, so rather than cheat, i decided to learn the hard way (because then, everything else is easy). i'm not saying that classical/flamenco players who use a pick are cheating. actually, yes i am. it's cheating.
