1253rd Engineer Combat Battalion in World War II

In World War II the 1253rd Engineer Combat Battalion had three companies: Company A, Company B, and Company C.  The battalion arrived in the European theater in late 1944 and participated in the Rhine River crossing at Wesel, Germany in March, 1945. 

The 1253rd was assigned to the 117th Engineer Combat Group.  The 117th was assigned to the U.S. Ninth Army. 
At the time of the crossing of the Rhine River, the U.S. 9th Army was under the command of the British 21st Army Group.
