Although, the tests are now all online not much has changed in the respect of what your child gets from the 11 Plus mocks. It is still good exam practice. It still helps improve their exam technique, helps eliminate pre exam jitter and helps them get better marks and thus help them succeed into getting into their choice of secondary school.
With online 11 Plus mock exams only two things change:
1. The exams due to Covid-19 do not happen in one of the education or community centres that we hire out instead it happens online - usually in your own home. You will be given a meeting link so your child can do the test over Zoom. If you have any trouble setting up Zoom (it is very easy to do) please let me know and I will help you set it up.
2. A few days before the mock exams I will send out to you the test papers marked "private." Make sure the test papers remain hidden from your child until the start of the exam. I and another invigilator will be closely monitoring all the students to make sure the test is done under strict exam like conditions. This not just to prevent those silly enough to try and cheat but to prepare them for the real pressures an exam brings.
This year as well as CSSE papers I have also created some CEM papers, which you will not find anywhere else! . There are 5 CSSE style papers (not past papers) and 3 CEM papers (not past papers).
All 8 Mock Exam Papers are all different and not available anywhere else
Please make sure your child in online 15 minutes early for the start of each exam.

MONEYBACK GUARANTEE FOR ONLINE 11 PLUS MOCK EXAMS: SOUTHEND & CHELMSFORD
I know most parents preferred choice is to have their child sit a mock test in an external setting but Government guidelines will not let us until the 1st of September at the earliest! I also realise that some parents are not convinced about their child getting an authentic experience by doing the mocks online.
Therefore I will offer a refund to any parent that believes their child didn't get a good experience doing it online!
All you need to do is let me know within 24 hours of your child sitting the mock exam in question. Please note your child's paper will not be marked and no feedback after the exam will be given if you request a refund. Your refund excludes any postage costs (usually around £3 or £4) if I have had to post your child's exam papers out. If I have emailed them or hand delivered them then you will get a full refund.
The 11 Plus is the very first most critical test your child will ever take. With just a limited quantity of Grammar Schools in Essex available, competition for places is fierce particularly in the towns of Southend, Chelmsford and Colchester. In some areas as much as 50% of Grammar school pupils result from outside of catchment area. That tells you how popular Grammar Schools are as a result of high standard of education they offer to pupils.
Every parent wants their child to complete well in the 11 Plus Exams and having private tutors giving some children expert tuition to greatly help them get through the exams by covering all of the relevant topics in the test that may not be all covered by your child's school is an excellent idea. Mock exams are an expansion of that tutoring. It gives your child an even better possibility of passing their 11 Plus. Even though your child does not need a good possibility of passing it is still a good experience for them as another big exam they'll take is the GCSEs and by then we would hope our children are accustomed to the pressures a huge exam can bring.
Below we will quickly list the features of taking these CSSE or CEM 11 plus mock exams.
Advantages of accomplishing a CSSE (Southend) or CEM (Chelmsford) 11 Plus mock exams
The initial advantage is reducing the amount of nerves or anxiety your child has before and during the tests. Some children are so nervous by enough time they take their first big exam they've a melt down and that's something that can be avoided by getting pupils used to the complete style and feel of a huge exam , leaving them to concentrate on the specific questions they'll face in the exams. Even though your child doe not need a melt down they're still going to feel nervous and that affects concentration levels and the capability for pupils to recall facts that they'd normally know under a less pressurised environment. Also nerves affect revision too even the notion of taking a big exam can leave a child's nerves in tatters before they have even entered a room.
We have tips about reducing pre exam nerves and stress on our Facebook page (tutorssouthend). Doing mock exams helps your child familiarise themselves with the complete process even as we try to produce our mock exams feel as close as you are able to the actual thing.
The mock exams are not about passing or failing them, they're about improving, preparing and learning from your mistakes. Your child will soon be nervous and anxious ahead of the mocks to some extent and that's normal as it is something they have not done before but once they have completed the tests around most of the nerves and anxieties could have been diminished.
Unlike the actual 11 Plus following the Southend and Chelmsford mock exams we allow you to have back the marked papers you will have a way to tell which areas they need to improve on and which they still need more work on. This will mean your child's revision will time will soon be better spent on the topics they require help with.
What else can we do to help them after taking the 11+ mock exams for Southend & Chelmsford ?
First thing we are able to do straight following the exam is provide a review session. This is held in small groups where we undergo all of the areas that they didn't do this well in. We also cover exam techniques on how best to tackle questions in the limited time they have and just make them interpret better how all of the questions are worded so there's no confusion another time.
Next we've many different solutions at our disposal all dependent on determined by your child's needs. First just spending additional time revising the topics they're weaker on at home. The following option is regular private one to 1 tuition which we can offer but susceptible to availability or there's the favourite option of taking over 3 days an intensive revision course around followed by another mock exam on the 4th day. Lastly obviously there are more 11 plus mock exams you can get your child to take. There are 6 altogether (more may be added) from the start of January to the very first week in September. The more mock tests your child takes the more comfortable they'll feel about the complete process and most importantly the better the opportunity they'll have passing the 11 Plus !

Actually despite initial worries that something might go wrong it went down very well with the students and the parents. I am extremely grateful to all those who took part in the 11 Plus mock exams for Southend and Chelmsford. The students took the whole thing seriously and so did the parents by making sure their children did not cheat and by sending me the exam papers off in the post or via email straight after the exams.
Our virtual ask me a question by raising your hand worked really well. Students pushed a "hands up" button which then alerted me to move them from the main virtual exam room to my break out room where we could speak privately and when finished they got transferred back to the main exam room without disturbing any of the other students which I must say would never happen in a real life situation as everyone notices when a student puts their hand up and you can sometimes hear the whispering between the invigilator and the student. So a definite thumbs up there from me!
We didn't have any major internet connection issues although, I do ask students that if there is one to just keep going with the exam papers while a parent gets the connection up again. My end has not had any internet connection issues although I do have a back up plan of just tethering to my laptop and tablet with my 4G connection on my smartphone. If my hardware were to let me down in anyway however briefly I have a spare laptop and desktop PC to rely on too. So, I have all my bases covered. Also as a rule I always clear cookies and re start my laptop before I start any online video meeting to reduce the chances of any interruptions which is something I advise all parents make sure their child has done before we start an 11+ mock exam.
