Working primarily in transparent watercolor , Karen uses a loose, impressionistic style of painting. She always attempts to suggest, rather than render an exact likeness of her observations of life. Karen's paintings represent the architecture, landscape, animals, and people of Key West. A large percentage of her work is done "plein air", where she regularly is challenged by local roosters, cats and dogs for her supplies.
In addition to her artwork, Karen is an instructor for the local art community of the Studios of Key West . She teaches a weekly watercolor class for all skill levels, as well as a three day workshop for beginning painters. For a schedule of classes and more information go to www.tskw.org.
