Le Tréport
Le Tréport
english Le Treport is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Haute-Normandie region in northern France. A small fishing port and light industrial town situated in the Pays de Caux, some 21 miles (34 km) northeast of Dieppe at the junction of the D940, the D78 and the D1015 roads. The mouth of the Bresle river meets the English Channel here, in between the high (110 metres) chalk cliffs and the pebbly beach. Le Treport is also a sea-side resort and home to a casino. Mers-Les-Bains Mers-les-Bains is a commune in the Somme department in Picardie in northern France. The commune is situated on the D1015 road, some 25 miles (40 km) west of Abbeville, Mers-les-Bains faces the English Channel near the mouth of the river Bresle, on the border between Picardie and Normandy. This ‘bathing station’ has both pebbles and sand (at low tide) on the 1 kilometre (1 mi)beach and some high chalk cliffs. With its neighbouring towns Eu and Le Treport so close by, it appears as one large conglomeration. They are collectively known as the 'three sister-towns' (les trois villes soeurs)." Much of the older part of town developed in the heyday of seaside bathing, during the latter part of the 19th century. As a consequence, the fine villas that were developed in those times are now subject to preservation orders. Any refurbishment must be in the same materials and colours as the original work. No plastic doors or roller shutters are allowed. french Le Treport Le Treport est une commune francaise, situee dans le departement de la Seine-Maritime et la region Haute-Normandie. The one with the illuminated plant.
The one with the illuminated plant.
I was chosen to show a piece of my work to my whole church congregation. I have to explain the piece on stage in front of about 200 people, as part of my youth leader's sermon, and this is what I've conjured up so far. :DDD I'm so excited. The story behind this is: in this shot, I'm sitting in pure destruction. I'm the only object with any color that stands out in the dark, gloomy atmosphere. In the picture, I've found a tiny bit of life in the death seeming to lie around me-- symbolized by the plant. In the real world, you could walk down the street and pass someone who, for example- has lost a dear family member, without you even knowing it. A simple smile can lighten their whole outlook on things, and they can know that their world isn't all just depression, despair and destruction. To that person, you can be the one with the brightly colored shirt and illuminated, jovial plant. All with a smile, or a few words, you can be their inspiration to keep going. -- This shoot was amazing. I found so many remains of the lifestyle that the long-gone family lived. I found tons of glass bottles and jars, a rusty fold-up baby stroller, oil cans, a plastic toddler's roller skate, an old McGregor soccer cleat, and tons more. I just so happened to step through the floor a few times. xD (Thank goodness this was only a one story... with dirt floors beneath the boards.) There were only 2 rooms. One seemed to be for sleeping, and the other for dining/common area. I happened to be in the common area. One of the house's walls was infested with bees. Lovely. I was fine, but my dad was the one running around, flailing like a 5 year old girl with a phobia for insects. xD I accomplished this shoot thanks to him, for he held my camera steady on the tripod and snapped the shutter because I was stupid enough to leave my quick-release mount at home. SORRY FOR THE BABBLING. I just felt like sharing my lovely Sunday afternoon with you all. <3
