The Rice Diet Solution: The World-Famous Low-Sodium, Good-Carb, Detox Diet for Quick and Lasting Weight Loss
Can you really lose twenty pounds in a month? Will you really keep it off this time? With The Rice Diet Solution, you will! The Rice Diet Program has been helping dieters successfully lose weight since 1939. Now in book form, this world-renowned weight-loss method can help you change the way you eat forever.
The Rice Diet Program in Durham, North Carolina, was one of the first medical facilities in America to use diet as the primary way to treat disease. On this high-complex-carb, low-fat, and low-sodium whole-foods diet, "Ricers" lose weight faster, more safely, and more effectively than people on any other diet. Men lose on average twenty-eight to thirty pounds and women on average nineteen to twenty pounds per month! The Rice Diet also detoxes your body, ridding it of excess water weight and toxins from processed foods and the environment. The program's results have been documented by extensive studies and confirmed by thousands of people who report amazing weight loss, as well as immediate improve-ment in such conditions as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. After all the other diets out there have failed them, people find that the Rice Diet is the one that finally works -- for good.
Here's how it works: The Rice Diet strictly limits salt and sodium-rich ingredients. Salt, like refined sugar, is an appetite stimulant, so when you reduce salt intake, you lose water weight and are less inclined to overeat. The Rice Diet also limits saturated fats and instead relies on carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans) as the main source of nutrition. The fiber cleanses your system and satisfies you so you feel full quickly. The Rice Diet makes it easy to limit calories; when you're eating foods that truly satisfy your hunger, it's a challenge to eat 1,500 calories per day!
To make it easy to follow the program, The Rice Diet Solution includes hundreds of tasty, filling, easy-to-prepare recipes -- some from the Rice House kitchen, others inspired by major chefs and adapted to Rice Diet standards.
The Rice Diet is not just an eating plan. It's a physical, emotional, and spiritual program that will change the way you live, giving you new vitality, energy, and longevity. Ricers report that the Rice Diet not only helps them solve weight problems they've struggled with their whole lives but also teaches them a whole new way of healthier, more mindful living.
Whether you want to lose twenty pounds or two hundred, the Rice Diet can help you do it -- finally and forever.
SOLID TRACK RECORD: Turning out success stories since 1939, the Rice Diet Program is the original, most effective diet to use nutrition to achieve not only safe and rapid weight loss but also the prevention and reversal of chronic disease. On this low-sodium, low-fat, detox diet, you'll enjoy a delicious variety of satisfying foods, including whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, dairy, seafood, and lean meats. You will never feel hungry!
RAPID WEIGHT LOSS: The average "Ricer" loses up to thirty pounds in the first month!
LONG-TERM SUCCESS: 63 percent of people who have lost weight on the Rice Diet report weighing the same or less one year later.
MEDICALLY SOUND: The Rice Diet Program is run by Duke University-trained M.D.s (a cardiologist and an endocrinologist) with more than thirty years of medical experience using diet as the primary treatment for long-term weight loss and disease reversal.
SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN: Numerous scientific publications, including the American Journal of Medicine, have documented the diet's dramatic effects on such life-threatening illnesses as congestive heart failure and heart disease and its risk factors: diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and obesity. <...

as above so below: fire signs
Firey People: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. When the people of fire elements are feeling not so energetic as usual, they can eat hot foods with alluring spices and flavors like garlic, cinnamon, pepper, oregano and plenty of mustard. But when the fire elements are stressed or furious, they should eat cold, watery, soft food. Fire people need food that contains high quantities of water to help them get rehydrated like lettuce and cucumbers. Also they should stay away from red meat and hot spices when they are irritated, nervous or furious. They should eat lots of vegetables like carrots, beets, celery... and cereals. Aries Aries is lacking in potassium phosphate. That is why those born under the sign of Aries should not eat lots of table salt. Aries have the best results dieting using fresh fish, vegetables and natural fruit juices and starches of brown rice and potatoes. Proteins good for Aries are dried beans, lentils, walnuts, veal, mahi-mahi, striped sea bass and milk. If the level of potassium phosphate drops, the Aries becomes depressive. To prevent that from happening those born under the sign of Aries should eat foods rich in potassium phosphate like beans, tomatoes, onions, bananas, broccoli, spinach, olives… other recommended fruits and vegetables for Aries are lettuce, cauliflower, cucumber, Brussels sprouts, figs, grapefruits, parsnips, dried apricots, and pumpkin. Aries helpful herbs are broom, dandelion, and wild cherry. Leo Magnesium phosphate is the mineral that rules over the Leo sign. It is a known fact that magnesium helps your body assimilate calcium. Leos should eat foods rich in magnesium and also rich in iron. You get magnesium phosphate from nuts, almonds, whole grain wheat and rye, figs, rice, egg yolk, apples, peaches… Lamb, beef and liver have a beneficial effect on the blood flow. To get more iron you can eat raisins, spinach, grapes or broccoli. Proteins for Leo are almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, seafood, egg yolk, beef, lamb, poultry, liver, cheese, whole milk and yogurt. Recommended fruits and vegetables are figs, lemons, apples, peaches, coconut, beets, asparagus, romaine, fresh fruit, green salads, spinach, raisins, dates, plums, pears and oranges. The main sources of silicon which they need are fresh fruits and vegetables. The peal of fruits and vegetables is especially rich in silicon. You should eat raw salads, cucumbers, parsnips, asparagus, green peppers, pears, apples, cherries, strawberries and black figs. Other foods that contain silicon are potatoes (eat the peals), egg yolk, whole grain cereals like rye. Sagittarians need a high protein diet: fish, eggs, poultry, dairies, brown rice, beetroots and soya. Beneficial herbs are chicory, hawthorn, red clover, burdock and dandelion.
Cowboy Heat Wrap Bandolier
Cowboy Heat Wrap Bandolier
This is the long body wrap I made for a friend of mine whose birth I will attend within the next month or so. She asked me to make some more of the rice heat packs I brought to her first birth as a doula, and I also thought it would be a good idea to replicate another of her favorite hot packs. One of the things I noticed during her first birth was that we tended to run out of hot packs quickly because they felt so very good; this problem will be relieved by the addition of more hot packs. But the other thing I noticed was the placement of the packs; my friend seemed to put them in a band that wrapped around her lower torso. Could I make ONE wrap that accomplished the benefits of heat therapy, making it more easy to deal with because it was a single wrap? For this wrap, I double-layered the cowboy fabric, and make one giant "pocket" out of it. I used double seams wherever I felt like it. I poured two dry cups of medium and long-grain white rice into the closed-ended fabric tube, and just made a seam on top of it. I repeated this a bunch of times. I double-seamed the remaining open edge, and I even rolled the fabric in on itself to avoid intenal fraying. That's all there was to it. These chambers were super easy to make. In the other chambered heat packs I make, sometimes it's hard, because in order to get the chambers plump (yet still be able to fit the edges of the piece under the sewing machine's foot) I sew the chambers first and stuff them from the side. I've lost a lot of rice that way over the years! But each project teaches me more about how to be less of a klutz. Two helpful things: 1) Sewing machine needles will sew over a horizontally-placed pin like buttah, baby. 2) Sewing machine needles will win in any street fight with a grain of rice. Making your own hot packs for a birth is incredibly inexpensive and makes a lot of sense. Add some dry grains to cloth and sew. Boom. Done. Add herbs, if you want. But you don't have to. The cloth can be an old sock, and it can be tied very tightly. And if, at any time, the hot/cold pack gets wet, soiled, ripped, or otherwise rendered less functional, simply toss it, and maybe even compost it (the insides, for sure). The weight of this eight-chambered thing is actually really comforting; I imagine that when it gets heated up, it will be even more of a comfort. Giddy-up, little doggies! Yee-ha!
