The Patch

The shape of the patch, that a powder keg symbolizes the explosive power contained within.

The blue background and the bayonets are symbolic of the infantry.

The position of the bayonets in saltire (crossed) symbolizes the Roman numeral ten (X), the numerical designation of the origination (10th Mountain)

The patch is worn with the points up, never down.

In December of 1944 the 10th Mountain Division received the "Mountain Rocker", however the patch was not issued until May of 1945.
