History: Was born to Markov and Julian Cross in Moscow, Russia. His father was a renowned general in his countries army and his mother was an elegant woman from Britain. How the two got married and ever had a family was a curiosity to many, but no one had ever seen a happier couple and it is there where the sadness of this story begins. Julian “Bishop” Cross was a beautiful woman and sought after by many men who went to her father asking for her hand. However her father was wise and smart and informed them that he wanted nothing, but the strongest for his daughter. He wanted someone who could take care of here and support her. And Markov was that man and to top it off it was him that Julian truly loved. But there was another man who sought her hand and would not give up in his pursuit to have her. Over the years he pursued her trying to win her hand over from Markov, but in a duel the man lost and before he died he cursed Julian and any offspring her and Markov would have. At the time Julian didn’t know that she was pregnant with a son; Alec. Over the coarse of the pregnancy though she began to get weak and the doctors couldn’t explain the reason. When she gave birth to her son she was able to name him before passing on. Grieve stricken Markov wept for his lost wife, but he didn’t let her death go in vein. Pledging to raise there son and to make sure he had a long life became his new mission in life. But when Alec was born his head was covered in white hair… The curse the man had laid upon Julian was now upon their son. He didn’t know what the curse would do to his son and was afraid that it would kill the child, but at the moment he seemed so full of life and so peaceful; he ignored it for the time, and took note to watch over the boy carefully. Alec’s youth was fairly normal for a boy his age. He traveled with his father and studied under private tutors for a fine education, but he’d been isolated from everyone else his age due to his hair and the rumors of him being cursed. He knew he was cursed for quite awhile as his father had told him the story of his past, but other things were changing too. People always got weak around him as if there energy was being sapped from them and electrical lights would dim as well. He felt that he was a living energy magnet and sought to be alone most of the time with his books. He even distanced himself from his own father in fear that he would drain him as well. But his father wouldn’t allow his son to just slip away. His father dragged him out to exercise and train in ways of the sword and hand to hand combat. His father was a solider so he wanted to make sure his son could defend himself from anything that he may encounter, but there are things in the world that not even his fathers training could prepare him for. Then one day when they were traveling there caravan was attacked and he was thrown from his bed to the floor. Waking in pain he rose to his feet to see that there were creatures floating in the skies around the caravan and they were shooting at the guards. He stepped out of the caravan to hear his father order him back inside, but he couldn’t take his eyes of the creatures in the skies. He’d never seen anything like them and they looked as if they belonged in some ones worst nightmares. Then it happened all at once. He felt an extraordinary pain through out his entire body. A pain so intense it brought him to his knees and made him sick to his stomach. He feared he’d been hit by one of the creatures as they were firing at the other guards. Perhaps one had saw him and decided he’d be an easy target, but as he looked over himself he couldn’t find one sign of injury, but why was he in such pain? The skies above went dark and the low rumble of thunder could be heard echoing above. His father had rushed to his side to try and figure what was out with his son, but when he touched him he suddenly felt weak before being zapped away. Alec cried in pain as the creatures turned from the guards who seemed like a minor annoyance to the new and interesting boy. Sparks were flickering around the ground all around him as he screamed in agony upon the ground. The skies above were growing darker and the thunder began to boom

Many centuries ago by a sparkling lake, in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains, the temple of Lao-Tsun was guarded by 100 yellow-eyed white cats with long silken hair. The temple housed a beautiful golden goddess with sapphire blue eyes who watched over the transmutation of souls. The head monk, Mun-ha, whose beard had been braided with gold by the enlighten one, often knelt in meditation before the golden goddess,Tsun-Kyan-Kse. At his side was his faithful and beloved companion, a beautiful temple cat named Sinh. Sinh would always shared in his master's meditation. As the monk meditated, Sinh would gaze steadily at the golden goddess beautiful sapphire blue eyes. One night as the moon rose, Mun-ha was in communion with the sacred goddess, Tsun-Kyan-Kse. He was deep in a transcendental state. So deep was his devotion, that he suffered no pain when the temple was attacked by marauders and Mun-ha was killed. At the moment of his masters death, Sinh placed his paws upon the monk's flowing robes and faced the golden goddess. Instantly, an amazing transformation took place. The hairs of Sinh's white fur were as though misted with a golden glow which radiated from the beautiful golden goddess. Her deep sapphire blue eyes became Sinh very own. His face, ears, legs and tail became the velvety brown color of rich earth, but his four paws resting gently on his master, remained perfect white, a symbol of purity. The next morning the temple radiated with the transformation of the remaining ninety-nine white cats which with Sinh reflected the golden hue of a hundred brilliant sunrises. Sinh did not move from his place He stayed on the spot of his masters death, and gazed fervently into the sapphire eyes of the goddess. Exactly seven days later Sinh died carrying with him into Nirvana the soul of his beloved master, the monk Mun-ha. A veil of mystery surrounding this initial background of the Birmans. According to the explorer, Auguste Pavie who made a study of this subject stated the pointed cats of all colors, some mitted and some not, can be seen in todays temples. He believes that because the numerous wars waged in Northern Burma by the Siamese and the Annamites through out history, that it is very likely that the origin of the Birman evolved from a cross between the Siamese cat and the Annamites cats. But as with all legends there is am element of truth. How much truth only the Birman knows and that is a secret that will be eternally theirs. ... BIRMAN

This is part of ESX Entertainment's Motown Legends series. Motown may have been founded and run by Berry Gordy, but Smokey Robinson's multi-faceted talents as a producer, performer and composer solidified the label's base in establishing it as a major force in music. With his creamy high tenor and lush arrangements, Robinson's strengths as a crooner shine on MOTOWN LEGENDS: THE BALLAD ALBUM. It's no accident that modern-day radio appropriated the title from Robinson's mid-'70s classic "Quiet Storm" to coin a term for a format intended for romantic interludes. Other classic ballads on this collection are "Ooo Baby Baby" (a hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1979), "Cruisin'" and "Tracks Of My Tears." And while many covered his songs, Smokey Robinson wasn't against returning the favor; particularly the Chi-Lites' "Oh Girl," which he infused with a funkier swagger without diluting the pleading sentiment. Smokey Robinson's lasting flair for crafting odes d'amour can still be heard all over the airwaves, in the sounds of Babyface, Boyz II Men and other like-minded artists.
