Blackburn System X4 Rechargeable Luxeon Bike Light System
Lighter, smaller, and just as powerful?our System X lights have evolved. They still pack state-of-the-art Luxeon emitters for incredible light output and long runtimes, which when combined with our Constant Current Technology and unique-to-Blackburn heat management, allows for more light output and less dimming than the competition. The evolution lies in new Li-lon battery designs that are 45% smaller and 30% lighter than the previous design. Even the lamp heads have been tweaked for a 30% savings.

Merry Christmas to All Pinoy Kodakeros!
Merry Christmas to All Pinoy Kodakeros!
A pix I took @ a night photography session with a friend Joel in Winnipeg: Weather conditions- Minus 32 with 2200 windchil, at 8:55 pm December 28, 1992. Tripod mounted Nikon 401 film camera using 4-AA rechargeable Batteries. Using 35-70mm F3.3-4.5 AF Nikkor lens. Exposure: F32 at 1 minute with two flashes of SB22 at manual mode (handheld) Filter: Crosstars Cokin Filter Film: Seattle Filmworks Slide with a rating of ISO 100. Published in Filipino Journal with this write-up: Cold Winter Against Hot Cameras Can we take outdoor pictures in freezing temperatures especially this coming December to conduct experimental pictures in night photography? Some say No! but some will say yes! Ah-Hah! Here are some hot tips to “click” you into outdoor pictures especially at below 30 degrees Celsius. 1.Keep the camera body warm by shielding it into your parka jacket or by packing it inside your toque (especially if it is made of Wool 100% material). I used to keep my 35mm film or digital camera behind my vest when not in use or inside my jacket under my armpit. 2.Pre-adjust or pre-program the setting of camera exposure if you’re using a 35mm SLR camera. As much as possible avoid using any camera under the point and shoot category that operates on small batteries other than those of Li-ion. Avoid operating the AF (Auto-Focus) mode but instead, set it to manual focusing mode if available. Take a few shots, then keep it back behind your jacket (or your armpit). Note: It’s more advantageous having AF-point and shoot camera using AA batteries than those having small size, like the size of a penny. (which is considered as more susceptible to freezing temperatures. Do not forget to carry a back-up supply of batteries. 3.If you notice fogging in the lens or your viewfinder, don’t, I repeat, don’t blow on the lens or even attempt to remove the dust. This will form ice crystals on the lens or mirrors even will develop minor fogging inside the lens. Fogging will clear after couple of minutes. 4.Skip using metal tripods in extreme conditions; choose instead to shoot “hand-held” to prevent your hand in direct contact with metal. Wrapping the legs of your tripod or part of it where you plan to hold it with insulating tapes or some sort is a good idea. (some part I used to wrap with electrical tape-it’s easy to remove later) Some tripod like the Manfrotto are already with insulation in those 3-legs and some are made of plastic materials. (One of my old tripod, was inserted by those material used in the bicycle as handles which is available in CT for couple of dollars.) 5.Always carry with your camera outfit a “zip-lock” freeze bags and put your camera inside before bringing it to a room temperature or warm environment to avoid instant condensation that may contribute to internal damage. Note the condensation will be evaporated into the plastic “zip-lock” outside your camera for a couple of hours depends on the outdoor temperature. 6.In freezing conditions, avoid using motor drive autowind camera (especially the film cameras) it can easily break films when threaded quickly through the camera and will cause broken sprocket holes and no pictures taken when processed. Take note always if the “counter” is advancing after each shot. Sometime film will blemish due to effects of static electricity. Well, what are we waiting for? Even in minus 30 degrees C we can have fun with our camera. Freeze those treasured moments and wonderful sceneries like this coming Christmas Season in pictures but don’t freeze yourselves. Plan session and be sure to wear “warm” clothes and shoes. Otherwise, you’ll have a nice frostbite!
Found a tunnel in my backyard
Found a tunnel in my backyard
This is one of my most interesting finds lately. In Holland we don't have much abandoned stuff, and tunnels are rare, especially in big crowded cities. Yet after living and exploring the city of Utrecht for 20 years, i could never imagine to stumble, more or less by accident, on this monster. It's probably a tunnel built for 1 or 2 metro tracks under a big crossing. It was not used at the end. It could have something to do with water too, or maybe it was for bicycles The tunnel was opened probably by people who wanted to throw a party here, but because of the water it was not very suitable :) This capture is 1 exposure on ISO 400, 30 seconds, and painted with light through a Maglite rechargeable. I will post a video link of the making , later in this description.
