One of two view (sets) of the Gumstick video camera I picked up off of Ebay. Mine was about $15 US without memory. I had a 512MB MicroSD card lying around, so in it went. I have plans to pick up a 4GB MicroSD card the next time I go grocery shopping. So for less than $30, I've got a 720x480 video camera that'll record for a couple of hours. Not bad! Mine came without a manual, but it looks like most of these are basically the same. I've marked the controls I've figured out. You can see the overall size of the thing in this shot. The one face that's not shown is the bottom, where the mini-USB port is. It's not much bigger than the AA battery in the frame, and weighs considerably less. The case can be removed after taking out eight screws, four per side. The inside is a single circuit board with the switches, LEDs, and processor on one side, and the camera, charge circuitry, and battery on the other. The plan is to (ab)use this on my KAP rig, on my pole, under my car, on an arrow (come ON! It'll be COOL!), dropping it from a high height, and anything else that just seems like a fun idea. More reports (and video!) to come.
