Welcome to the 100 Males to College Partnership Planning Center!
We've built this site with tools and resources to get you started on building your local community program. Please feel free to contact Cynthia Orellana corellana@bhe.mass.edu if you have feedback on how we might improve this tool or have developed tools of your own that you'd like to share.
About the Project
The Department of Higher Education (DHE) has identified an urgent need to reach more students and support their completion of postsecondary education in order to meet the Commonwealth’s growing need for an educated and skilled citizenry. It is a social justice and economic imperative to eliminate the most significant disparities in college-going rates among subpopulations – specifically, low-income males and particularly males of color (herein after referred to as LIM MOC).
As part of DHE’s strategy to increase college access, participation, retention, and success for LIM MOC, DHE we have enlisted you to help us engage some of our Commonwealth’s most promising yet underserved young men in a personally and educationally transformational journey. Your partnerships, which include higher education, high school(s), business(s) and community organization(s), will help us drive change and enhance life outcomes for our young men.
100 Males to College is about preparing young men for post-secondary education with the goal of getting them in and through. The pilot encourages building supports and experiences in the high school and community to bolster success. The overall project framework is anchored in strengthening young people through a positive youth development model that embraces culture, identity and community.
