Rochester '00 AAA Invitational
September 12-14, 2014
Bill Gray's IcePlex
Rochester, NY

The Game
  • USA Hockey rules will govern all tournament play.
  • All games will consist of 12-12-15 minute stop-time periods.
  • Game time commences with a 3:00 minute warm-up starting when the Zamboni doors close. The timekeeper shall commence and end the warm-up by sounding the buzzer. Teams not ready will forfeit their warm-up time.
  • In Semifinal & Championship games ONLY, there is ONE 30 second time out permitted per team.
  • There will NOT be OVERTIME in any preliminary round games. If the score is tied at the conclusion of any preliminary round game, the game will end in a tie and each team will be awarded 1 point towards the tournament standings.
  • MERCY RULE: If by, or at any time during, the 3rd period one team is ahead by 5 goals or more, running time will commence and revert back only if differential is returned to 2 goals.
  • Teams must be ready to begin play 15 minutes prior to scheduled start time. Delays in the 1st face-off shall be subtracted from the time of the 1st period and a Delay of Game penalty may be assessed to the team causing the delay.
  • There will be NO CURFEW in effect for any tournament games.

  • This is USA Hockey sanctioned tournament. All USA Hockey rules shall apply.
  • Minor penalties, two (2) minutes each; Major penalties, five (5) minutes; Misconduct and Game Misconduct, ten (10) minutes.
  • Any player receiving FOUR penalties in one game will be ejected from the remainder of that game. Although this tournament rule may seem severe, and unnecessary, we do this to prevent a layer from receiving his 5th penalty which, according to USA Hockey rules, results in a player receiving game misconduct and automatic suspension for his team's subsequent game. We'd rather a player sit after 4 penalties than risk being suspended for the following game. We hope you understand.
  • Game Misconducts will result in a one-game suspension. Warranted or not, all referees decisions to issue Game Misconducts are final and will not be overturned.
  • Fighting will not be tolerated and will result in that player being suspended from the tournament.
  • Match Penalties and Gross Misconduct will result in expulsion from teh tournament.

Preliminary Round Qualifying
  • Teams earn two (2) points for a win, one (1) point for a tie, and zero (0) points for a loss in all preliminary round games.
  • Tiebreakers (in order):

    • Highest win total
    • Goal ratio or percentage to include ALL preliminary round games (GF / (GF+GA)).
    • Fewest goals allowed

    • Fewest penalty minutes; three (3) game preliminary round total.
