Simsbury Public Schools
Welcome to Mrs. Rigby's WebPage
The Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum prepares students to function in an ever-changing world, as they learn how to manage their life and work effectively. Our goal is to assist students in becoming productive, contributing members of society. Through experiential learning, students work in an active, product-oriented setting which develops responsibility, motivation, creativity, interpersonal skills, problem-solving strategies, time saving techniques, and many other life skills. Lab work, projects, and hands-on activities guide learning.
The purpose of this web page is to provide students and parents with information related to my classes. Most students will have FACS for a trimester and during that time we will have 3 units of study - Sewing, Foods and Smart Living.
Teaching was my dream since I was in middle school. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Home Economics and the University of St. Joseph with a MA in Education. School year 2019 - 2020 is my 16th year of teaching. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge of foods, sewing, and life skills with my students!
