Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Jeffrey Klein, and I will be your child’s science teacher for this upcoming school year!  I am very excited to be here at Simsbury and can’t wait to start the school year.

I would like to provide some background information about myself.  I am a recent graduate of UConn's Teacher Certification Program for College Graduates (TCPCG) program with a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I completed my undergraduate degree, also at UConn, with a BS in Physiology and Neurobiology. This is my first time teaching in my own classroom, but from my experience student teaching in both Hartford and RHAM, I am super excited to start this journey with you!

With the new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Engineering practices, science is changing, evolving, and developing daily with new discoveries and questions. Science is the process of inquiry, challenging students to question what they see and what they do.  Presenting students with a challenge, then having them work to solve it by leading them with information and questions. I intend to bring this type of science to my classroom.

I am a true believer that every child is different and brings something unique to every discussion and class.   A classroom truly feels like a place of learning when students feel comfortable and can trust everyone in the classroom.  I will make it my mission to make sure every child gets this in my classroom.

I look forward to a great year of learning and discovery.   If you ever need to contact me about anything, feel free to call the school or email me at jklein@simsburyschools.net and  I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Klein
