The bottom right quilt square is the epitome of what Celestine tried to capture in her work: an overwhelming sense of positivity, curiosity, and child-like wonder. She created such a work in a physical and mental space that were both very far removed from the original. The photograph on the right illustrates what kind of space she might've worked in. A yellow and blue sky, roving sandy hills, a house to go home to, a ship coming in to dock, and the wind wildly blowing versus the stillness of a room, the dampening of sound with fabric, and the methodic whir of the sewing machine. An innocent childhood in a coastal town remembered from a post-war city.
