The hustle and bustle outside a Boston bookstore around the time Celestine was living there contrasts the quiet sailboat that floats past two houses and their docks in Lynn, MA. The quilt's immense focus on water, sand, and vines snaking around tree branches illustrates Celestine's longing for a quieter life and desire to flee from the hubbub of the city. Her only chance of escape, however, is through the creation of her quilt.
