Though many things changed about Celestine's life when she moved from Lynn to Boston, her main artistic inspiration did not. Many of the squares that comprise Crazy Quilt focus on the coastline and the boats that occupy it; she did not lose that coastline while living in what is now the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. Though it is not known with certainty, the coastal views may have reminded her of home and inspired her to make the quilt.Â
