This red roofed house at the top center of the quilt is the Bacheller's family home at 395 Broadway in Lynn, MA, built by Celestine's father Alfred in the early 19th centuy. Abutting the beach and surrounded by greenery, this image sharply contrasts the photograph on the right, a building on Washington Street in Boston. Celestine, her mother Hannah, and her sisters Adeline and Lillian were recorded as living on this street in the 1870 census after the Civil War and Alfred's death. Though Celestine had four living male siblings, they did not reside in the home nor did they financially support their female family members.
