Meet Ms. Smith -Lead Teacher
I am from Finland where I go every Summer to spend time with my family and friends. I taught in Finland for 10 years prior moving to the U.S. I got my Master's degree in Russian Language and Literature and Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in Finland. I have also studied Education in England, Denmark and Russia. I am a certified teacher in PK-3 in Florida and have a K-12 Reading Endorsement and ESOL Endorsement (English as a second language).
I've been in Key West for 20 years and this year will be my 11th in SCS! Besides teaching in Finland, I also taught teenagers in a Language School in England and trained teachers in rural South-Africa. I speak multiple languages and love traveling and learning about new cultures!
In my free time I love to walk and run and go to the gym. I also volunteer at the Tropic Cinema and teach Sunday School at the Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
I have a son who is a Junior in Key West High School. We love traveling any time we have a chance! I want to show him what the world has to offer in order for him to choose what he wants to do and where he wants to go when he is ready to fly!!!
I can't wait to see all the new Ballyhoo faces and see how far you are able to fly!!!!
Meet Ms. Bloom-Ledoux -Support Teacher
I am originally from Jacksonville, FL. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida in 2021. For the past year and a half I worked in child welfare. Before that, I worked in early childhood education for 6 years. This will be my first year with SCS.
I have relocated to Key West with my family on military orders, and will have a child that will be attending SCS this fall. I look forward to having an amazing year and can’t wait to meet everyone!
