This privacy policy describes how RS485 Fire Panel Monitor ("the App") handles information. We built this app to help technicians monitor RS485/Modbus fire panel devices over a USB serial connection, and we designed it to work entirely on your device, without collecting or transmitting your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
The App does not require account creation, does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not send data to any external server.
The only data the App stores is:
Device configuration you enter — such as which RS485 slave addresses are enabled, device type/model assignments, and any custom names you give to detected devices.
Connection settings — baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity, and polling interval for your RS485 bus.
This information is stored locally on your device only, using Android's standard local storage (SharedPreferences). It is never uploaded, synced to a server, or shared with us or any third party. Uninstalling the App removes this data.
2. Permissions We Use
USB device access—to communicate with your USB-to-RS485 serial adapter and read data from connected fire panel devices.
Wake lock- To keep the screen/device active while continuously polling connected devices so a monitoring session doesn't get interrupted by the device sleeping.
The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or any other personal data on your device.
3. Data Sharing
Because we don't collect any data, we have nothing to share. We do not sell, rent, or transmit any information to advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party.
4. Data Security
All configuration data stays on your device under Android's app sandboxing protections. Since nothing is transmitted off-device, there is no server-side data to secure or breach.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is a professional/technical tool intended for use by fire alarm system installers and technicians. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes—for example, if a future version of the app adds cloud sync, crash reporting, or analytics—we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
