Mrs. Kettering
Hello. My name is Nicky Kettering and I am the school social worker at Schuyler Industry Community Unit District #5. I started with the district in 2007. I earned my Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and I am licensed to practice by the state of Illinois.
What does a school social worker do?? School social workers work with students, parents, teachers and community to enhance and nurture school success. This includes assisting with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy.
I serve all buildings in our district as part of the special education support staff. Through this capacity, I work directly with the families and students with varying needs in our SID5 community. I enjoy meeting and making families feel welcome and supported as they navigate the education of their child.
If you're looking for the school social worker, my office is located at the middle school. In addition to playing a role on our special education team, I am available to provide direct services to our SIMS students.
