All ICB manuscripts are peer reviewed. ICB invites peer reviews from the list of suggested peer reviewers provided by authors, from peer reviewers identified by ICB editors, and from the ICB editorial reviewers. ICB aims to provide authors with two to three peer reviews.
The ICB editors will work with the authors to keep the round of revisions to a minimum by providing constructive feedback.
To learn more about the editorial process, visit the author support website created by the ICB editor.
Manuscript must be submitted through the ICB manuscript submission site.
Below is a step-by-step guide with screen grabs for the manuscript submission process.
Look for red underlining in the screen grabs

Scroll down using the scroll bar on the right to find the right option for you.
The most commonly selected options are below.
If your manuscript was invited as part of events at a SICB annual meeting, please select from the following options: symposium article, symposium introduction, complementary session, student award paper, awardees (such as Gans, Morse, Moore, Bartholomew) .
If your article was invited outside of being part of an event at the SICB annual meeting and is not part of a larger collection of articles, then please select 'invited review' for review papers or 'invited paper' for research articles.
If your manuscript was invited as part of a special issue, keep scrolling down beyond "complementary session" and select the name of your special issue.

You can upload up files in batches of up to three files per upload round. To initiate an upload, choose file destination and select the file to be uploaded.
Designate the file containing the text of your manuscript as the "main document".
Whenever you indicate that a file is a figure or a table, a textbox will appear asking you to enter the figure legend or table caption. If your caption contains a hyperlink, you can share the link in the box "Link text".
When you press 'upload selected files', ICB will start uploading your files. This can take a surprisingly long time for large files.
Files that have been uploaded successfully will appear above the section where you can select the next batch of three files for uploading.
Order: The window will allow you to adjust the order in which the files will appear in the pdf that the uploader will create from the 'main document' and all figures and tables. Typically, the 'main document' appears first (order '1'). Please adjust the order number of the files for figures and tables to reflect the order in which you would like them to appear in the pdf version of your manuscript.
Actions: You can choose actions, such as 'delete' to remove files.
If you need to upload additional files, you can do so in the 'File Upload' section at the bottom of the window.
You can enter keywords in the textbox by typing them in a pressing 'add'. You can remove keywords by pressing 'x Remove'.
The minimum number of the required keywords is three, the maximum is six.
You can enter authors by finding them in ICB's data base, which avoids you having to re-enter their details. If an authors is publishing with ICB for the first time, you can add authors manually.
Once you have entered all authors, you can use 'Order' and 'Action' to change author order or delete authors. Please order authors in the order in which they appear on the manuscript.
Adding or deleting authors during the re-submission process after a revision may trigger an inquiry from the editors.
