How to appeal 

At ICB, we welcome genuine appeals to editorial decisions or peer reviews.

Please submit an appeal letter to the journal’s editorial office (Editor.ICB@sicb.org). Please address your appeal to the editor and explain clearly the basis for an appeal.

Appeals need to be submitted within a month of the date on the decision letter.  

Appeals need to be submitted by the corresponding author and need to be approved by all co-authors.

Manuscripts with pending appeals may not be submitted to other journals.

In your appeal, you need to:

• Explain why you disagree with the decision. Please provide specific responses the editor’s and/or reviewers’ comments that contributed to the reject decision.

• Provide any new information or data that you would like the journal to take into consideration.

• Provide evidence if you believe an editor or reviewer has made technical errors in their assessment of your manuscript.

• Include evidence if you believe an editor or reviewer may have a conflict of interest or have been biased.
