"Sinigang" Sinigang is one of the most delicious dishes of Filipinos. It is loved by many because of its unique taste. Sinigang is known for its sour and savory taste that will really stick to your taste buds. But despite its taste, this is how a woman feels in the story of "sinigang". What exactly happened to lead to this woman's situation? Why was the emotion of the woman in the story the way it was?
The short story, "Sinigang" written in 2001 by "Marie Aubrey Villaceran" narrates Liza, the main character, dealing with the problem of her father having an extramarital affair with Sylvia and having a child named Lem as a result, which caused Liza a tremendous deal of pain. It all started with the main character Liza who also acted as the narrator of the story. Liza gives her Tita Loleng an extra hand in the kitchen to make "Sinigang" which they will eat for dinner. While they were making sinigang, Liza answered her aunt's queries about what happened to her. In his stories, his halfbrother, the son of Liza's father with another woman, died. Liza also told the story of her halfbrother's mother, Sylvia, who was described as looking pretty at the funeral, but Liza's response was "not as pretty as my mother". This is just one of the normal reactions of children who have exchanged their own mother for another woman. When Sylvia apologized to Liza, she showed an impassive face which means that she cannot forgive and that she has a hatred against Sylvia. Liza was really sad about what happened, she grew up to be Daddy’s Girl and she even found out about her father's betrayal and it really destroyed Liza’s feelings. Behind his sad stories, they finished cooking this porridge and it was ready to be served for dinner. She realizes that with everything that has happened, things will never return to the way they have always been in their home. Even though she gave her father a smile when he complimented her on the way she cooked her father's favorite dish, it still couldn't cover the pain in Liza's eyes.
In the short story of "Sinigang" we will learn that everyone who lives in this world makes mistakes. In the story, we saw the apology that we should do especially if we have done or done something that is not good. This is one of the good lessons because we learn from the mistakes we make. Besides that we should learn to accept the reality and learn how to forgive because by doing this we will lighten our mood not the one we allow to stay and grow anger in our hearts. And one of the important lessons we must learn is to be faithful to only one person. We should only stick with the one person we love and let's not tempt others because we know right and wrong because in the end it's not just us who will suffer but the result of love, children are the ones who will suffer the most from the mistake of two parents who affected the temptation so honesty should be possessed by all.
