 PURPOSE AND GOALS

The Town will be updating the parking requirements in the Shrewsbury Zoning Bylaw. The goals of the regulatory update are to prevent further excessive development of parking lots and to incentivize owners of existing overbuilt surface lots to reduce and replace their excess impervious surfaces with green infrastructure in order to decrease vulnerabilities related to increased extreme weather and heat events

The areas in town that contain the most impervious surfaces are vulnerable to the increased risk of flooding and heat island effects. We are looking to update our parking requirements to ensure future development builds Shrewsbury's resiliency in light of a changing climate.

WANT TO SEE MORE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SHREWSBURY?

The Town has put together a survey for residents and property owners to complete regarding the existing parking in Town. We want your feedback about how to enhance our new and existing developments to ensure they benefit current and future residents. Be part of shaping a more sustainable Shrewsbury with us!
