Recess Should Be Longer!

Hi, my name is Anna and I am in 5th grade. I think that recess should be longer for so many reasons. One reason is that some places in the world had an experiment where they gave the kids longer recess, and eventually because they got more breaks from learning, the whole school got better grades! The reason for this is because all these kids have all this knowledge crammed in their brains with math, science, social studies, yada, yada, yada. Students have so much work to do and they need a break! And BAM that is where the genius idea of recess comes in! Kids get breaks from all these facts, dates and titles.

Recess also takes out a lot of your energy so you can concentrate better in class. And that makes you have better grades. 

I think it is an awful idea that kids who aren’t paying attention have the punishment of staying inside and skipping recess. The reason that they aren’t paying attention to class is because they need a break from all this knowledge. And when us kids have recess, the teachers finally get a break from us kids! Also when teachers are well rested then they can teach us kids better and we learn more! 

Right now we have 25 minutes of recess and 25 minutes of lunch. In Finland kids have 50 minutes of recess. 50! Later, the whole school got better grades! That is awesome.

And also, recess is overall spectacular! It gives you a chance to meet kids who aren't in your class. It makes you have better people skills and gives you exercise. All in all, longer recess would be out of this world.
