THANK YOU for a phenomenal MERGE 2022 experience!
A Technology Resource Teacher with Shelby County Schools, Matt values forming connections and relationships with the teachers he has the privilege of working with. As a former elementary teacher himself, he understands the importance of forward-thinking and having a growth mindset, especially when it comes to the integration of technology in the classroom.
Matt graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and quickly found a path to leadership where he taught at Brookwood Elementary School. His leadership became more focused as he transitioned roles to Thompson Intermediate School where he served as the building's Technology Coordinator as well as teaching 4th-grade math. It was here that Matt truly discovered his passion for working with teachers to discover and learn researched-based teaching strategies in conjunction with innovative tech tools that promote student engagement and success.
Matt began in his position with Shelby County at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and aided in the implementation and navigation of eLearning during the final quarter of the 2019-2020 school year. He is currently in the final semester of his Master’s degree in Instructional Technology.
