Following on from the success of the Cuthbert Bank Live project, Live Works have worked in partnership with SYHA to use a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery Awards to improve the outdoor spaces at SYHA's Cuthbert Bank property. Live Works used a co-production approach where architects and customers worked together to create an outdoor space that reflected just what customers wanted, building off work done in the Cuthbert bank live project.
The once enclosed paved areas, sparsely populated with small trees, has undergone a comprehensive transformation. It has been re imagined through co-production into a dynamic space, featuring recreational amenities tailored to engage children, notably a climbing wall and an adventure course. Complementing these active features are the inclusion of wooden seating, floral-filled planters, and the creation of a pictorial meadow by Green Estate. This revitalized space not only fosters opportunities for residents and staff to chat, but also has boosted bio-diversity.
