Welcome to the School of Languages and Cultures at Sheffield!
What is this site for?
On this site you will find up-to-date information to prepare for your first semester as a postgraduate student at the School of Languages & Cultures (SLC). The aim of these pages is to provide you with information before your course starts.
We know that there will be lots of information being sent to you including university messages about how to move around campus and how the University will organise student registration and teaching. While it is important for you to read all these, we will endeavour to bring together all the key information you need, as clearly as possible.
What will I find on this page?
- 1. Welcome message
As the Head of School, I’d like to welcome you to our academic community and wish you many congratulations for the achievements that brought you to us. For some of you, this may be a return to the School of Languages and Cultures, or to Sheffield, and, for others this might be a completely new experience in a new department, in a new university, city and country. In all cases, we are really looking forward to welcoming you. My colleagues and I are here to help, so please do get in touch if you have any queries or questions over the coming weeks. I wish you an excellent time with us, and look forward to seeing you soon.
Prof Thomas Baldwin - Head of School of Languages & Cultures
