This patch of wildflowers is part of a project run by the University of Sheffield, in collaboration with Sheffield City Council, to help researchers understand how air pollution is affecting our city’s pollinating insects.
The site is part of a network of wildflower patches around Sheffield, on council-managed grass verges next to both busy and quiet roads. By comparing sites with different levels of traffic, we can study the effect of road pollution on the number and diversity of insects visiting the wildflowers.
Thank you for not disturbing this important research site. If you see the wildflower patch looking dry and wilting, please feel free to give it a water; we would really appreciate it!
