OTHERING IN THE

TWENTIETH CENTURY

A WORKSHOP AIMED AT EARLY CAREER AND POSTGRADUATE RESEARCHERS IN THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES

THE UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD

FRIDAY 22 MARCH 2024

We invite all interested, particularly early career academics and postgraduate researchers, to attend our Workshop. Our one-day Workshop will investigate Othering in different societies and cultures across the world throughout the twentieth century. Papers come from a range of disciplines that consider Othering along the lines of race, nationality, gender, sexuality, class, religion, and more.

While developing important conversations around Othering in history, our Workshop also aims to develop speakers' and attendees’ knowledge and understanding of academic conventions. We aim to hold a relatively small, supportive, one-strand Workshop which will conclude with a panel on academic publishing.

Tickets for the Workshop are available now. Tickets are free. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at no cost to attendees.
