As a line manager, you have a duty of care towards your employees to prevent physical and psychological harm to staff and this includes managing stress. Our Managing Mental Well-being section will give you more information on this. As a manager this can mean being able to flexibly support a wide range of mental health concerns, to enhance understanding of mental health and increase visibility across campus and amongst colleagues to further embed our open culture at the College.
Whilst you cannot make anyone look after their mental and physical well-being, encouraging a healthy team and embedding an open culture, you can potentially prevent sickness absence occurring. Remember, prevention is always better than a cure!
