As an employee of The Sheffield College you have access to a range of support services as part of our Employee Assistance Programme, provided by BUPA. The Employee Assistance programme is a 24 hour helpline for all staff. It is a free and confidential service. The College will not know if you have used this service.
The Employee Assistance Programme is there to help you by offering a counselling service on a wide range of issues whether that is personal problems or work related problems. The service can provide you with financial and legal support as well.

This involves weekly sessions with the same qualified counsellor. It is convenient as it reduces the need for travel and makes it easier to fit in with work and other commitment. You can call from anywhere providing it is quiet and you are able to talk openly.
Face to face counselling takes place in a private practice or a confidential area. The Employee Assistance Programme has over 1600 counsellors so you will never have to travel far. Within short term solution focused therapy, you and a counsellor will identify problems and work towards a solution.
Do you know that most calls are handled in the first instance by a trained counsellor in the event of someone needing emotional support immediately?
BUPA offers you a telephone counselling service which will be answered by a qualified and experienced counsellor who will be able to offer you support in a professional, non judgemental manner. You can also opt to have structured telephone counselling and online Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Did you know that immediate family (partner/spouse and children aged 16- 24 in fulltime education and at the same address) can also access most of the service? Including telephone counselling?
Are you aware that there are structured four week programmes to choose from either fitness, quitting smoking, sleep, health eating and much more?
You can access webinars which will support and build resilience through raising awareness of well-being, this also includes a range of e-coaching programmes. There are online four-week self-help programmes which help promote lifestyle changes that range a number of areas including weight loss, improving sleep and changing habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption.
