Data Exploration
Students will engage in inquiry-based activities to explore scientific concepts and develop skills in data collection and analysis. They will compare modern methods to data collection & analysis to historic methods. Working collaboratively to design and conduct experiments, students will collect and analyze data, identify patterns and conclusions, and communicate their findings to others.
Use a variety of digital and analogue tools, (including but not limited to online search databases, G-Suite applications, Microsoft Office applications, online simulation tools, search engines, projects, surveys, and other activities) to gather, develop, record, analyze and interpret data and information.

Students will:
Collect and organize data effectively.
Create appropriate graphical representations of data.
Analyze and interpret data to draw meaningful conclusions.
Apply data analysis skills to real-world situations.
Explain how to communicate and publish key ideas and details individually or collaboratively in a way that informs, persuades, and/or entertains using a variety of digital tools and media-rich resources.
Demonstrate ways to create, modify, and use a database (e.g., define field formats, add new records, manipulate data), individually and collaboratively, to analyze data and propose solutions for a task/problem.
Demonstrate how to perform a variety of operations such as sorting, filtering, and searching in a database to organize and display information in a variety of ways such as number formats (scientific notation and percentages), charts, tables, and graphs.
Identify and explain the strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities of a variety of digital tools.
Identify the kinds of content associated with different file types and why different file types exist (e.g., formats for word processing, images, music, three-dimensional drawings.)
Explain how to integrate information from multiple file formats into a single artifact.
