Students learn architectural, industrial and mechanical design using freehand sketching, technical drawing and industry standard computer-assisted design software such as Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit and Inventor, allowing them to build the skills necessary for post-secondary institutions in architecture, design and engineering. Students will complete projects that are engaging and real-life.
What to Expect:
Design Studies is a course that focuses on Architectural, Industrial and Mechanical Design. Students use the latest industry standard software including Trimble Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, and Inventor. In this course you’ll create floor plans of condominiums and homes, design commercial buildings, create objects and working drawings for everyday items. Noteworthy projects include designing bike racks for the City of Edmonton which were produced in-house at Jasper Place and later installed in various communities.
