Cosmetology

The Cosmetology Program at Jasper Place High School offers students an exciting opportunity to explore the world of Hairstyling in a real, hands-on learning environment. This dynamic program combines classroom instruction with authentic salon experiences, allowing students to build practical skills while gaining insight into the day-to-day life of a hairstylist.  

What to Expect: 

Cosmetology 10 is designed to introduce students to a variety of career opportunities available in the beauty industry. Students develop workplace readiness skills by understanding the importance of infection control and maintaining a clean and professional salon environment. Our hands-on program builds foundational knowledge and practical skills  in braiding, dry and wet styling methods, hair and scalp treatments, theatrical make-up techniques, and skin care practices. Students who choose to continue into Cosmetology 20 (10 credits) and Cosmetology 30 (10 credits) will gain valuable hands-on experience in a salon environment while refining their hair cutting, colouring, perming, extension and updo skills. 

Students who enrol in Esthetics 20 (5 credit) and Esthetics 30 (5 credit) will receive hands-on training in manicuring, nail art, facials, makeup applications, hair removal and facial and body adornment services. In addition to refining their technical skills, students will develop a strong understanding of spa operations, client care, and foundational business practices within the Esthetics Industry.
