Here's everything that happened in week six of college football season- plus expert predictions for week seven
Arkansas 51 vs Ole Miss 52
My Prediction Was: Arkansas 31 vs Ole Miss 35
In one of the crazy games this week in college football this weekend, Ole Miss pulled it off in Oxford with a two-point conversion stop. If you remember, last season Ole Miss QB Matt Corral threw six interceptions against the Hogs D. Earlier this year in July, Matt said that when he faced this D this year it was going to be different. It was, as Matt went 14 for 21 for 287 yards, along with three touchdowns. The rushing game for the Rebels was insane, with Henry Parrish Jr. and Snoop Connor both rushing for more than 110 yards. Matt Corral also rushed for 94 yards. WR Braylon Sanders caught two passes for a total of 127 yards and a touchdown. Arkansas’s offensive performance was one for the ages, rushing and passing for more than 325 yards. QB K.J. Jefferson went 25 for 35 for 326 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. The leading rusher for the Hogs was Raheim Sanders, who rushed for 139 yards on 17 carries. Both Treylon Smith and K.J. Jefferson rushed for 85 yards, and K.J. scored three touchdowns.
Oklahoma 55 @ Texas 48
My Prediction Was: Oklahoma 38 @ Texas 37
This was one of the most memorable games in recent College football. I thought it was going to be high-scoring, and it was. OU went into the second quarter down 28 to seven, and QB Spencer Rattler got benched for the second straight Red River Rivalry. Backup QB Caleb Williams came in the game and provided a spark for the Sooners in what was the second-largest comeback in OU history. Caleb went 15 for 24 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a long 66-yard TD run. The receivers for the Sooners had a great day, Marvin Mims leading the way with 136 yards on five receptions, as well as two touchdowns. RB Kennedy Brooks went off for the Sooners, racking up 217 yards on 25 carries, along with two touchdowns. Texas also had an outstanding offensive performance. QB Casey Thompson went 20 for 34 for 388 yards and five touchdowns. Early-season Heisman dark horse RB Bijan Robinson also had a field day, with 137 yards and one touchdown. WR Xavier Worthy had an insane day, taking the opening play 75 yards to the house. That was only part of his nine-reception, 261 yard, two touchdown game. This game will be remembered for a long time!
Vanderbilt 0 @ Florida 42
My Prediction Was: Vandy 13 @ Florida 45
I thought that Florida would bounce right back after the devastating Kentucky loss, and they did just that. QB Emory Jones went 14 for 22 for 273 yards and a very respectable four touchdowns. He and Anthony Richardson both threw one interception. The running game for Florida was good, and they had eight guys rush for more than ten yards. The leading rusher was Nay’Quan Wright, who had 46 yards on seven carries. Emory Jones, Demarkus Bowman, and punter, yes, punter, Jeremy Crawshaw all rushed for more than 20 yards as well. Damien Pierce also rushed for two touchdowns. Vandy did pretty much nothing on offense, only racking up a total of 287 yards. QB Ken Seals went 22 for 43 for 192 yards and two interceptions. On the ground, the Commodores' leading rusher was Patrick Smith, who rushed for 75 yards on 17 attempts.
Georgia 34 @ Auburn 10
My Prediction Was: Georgia 41 @ Auburn 7
Georgia played yet another outstanding game, offensively and defensively. Even though the D gave up an offensive touchdown, which was only their second touchdown given up on the year, they still won with ease. I did think Auburn would score a touchdown, and they did, and as far as Georgia’s performance, I was right about that too. Georgia was very balanced this game, rushing for 201 yards and passing for 231. The leading rusher was Zamir White, who rushed for 79 yards on 18 attempts, along with two touchdowns. Kendall Milton, Stetson Bennett, and James Cook also had decent games. Stetson Bennett threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Third year Auburn QB, Bo Nix, threw for 217 yards and one interception. The rushing game was not very good for the Tigers, with Tank Bigsby rushing for 28 yards on ten attempts.
Penn State 20 @ Iowa 23
My Prediction Was: Penn State 24 @ Iowa 27
In the biggest game in Iowa’s stadium in nearly 35 years, Iowa grinded it out, and in the end, came out with an emotional victory. I thought this was going to be a hard-fought game down to the wire, and it certainly was both of those things. Penn State was rolling early until a big hit from Iowa LB Tyler Linderbaum knocked him out of the game. After that, Penn State did absolutely nothing on offense, and Iowa slowly climbed back from a two-touchdown deficit. Iowa QB Spencer Petras had a decent day, going 17 for 31 for 195 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. RB Tyler Goodson rushed for 79 yards on 25 carries, and WR Nico Regaini caught four passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Penn State QB Sean Clifford had an iffy game while he was in, going 15 for 25 for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Then, when backup QB TaQuan Roberson came in, he also sucked. He went seven for 20 for 34 yards with two interceptions. In a pathetic rushing performance, the leading rusher was Sean Clifford, who rushed for 36 yards and one touchdown (keep in mind he only played one and a half quarters).
LSU 21 @ Kentucky 42
My Prediction Was: LSU 10 @ Kentucky 31
As I predicted, Kentucky wins another easy one, at home this time, against Ed Orgeron and the LSU tigers. Kentucky QB Will Levis went 14 for 17 for 145 yards and three touchdowns. The ground game was very effective for the Wildcats, the Leading rusher being Chris Rodriguez, who rushed for 147 yards on 16 attempts. Kavosiey Smoke also had a good day, rushing for 104 yards on 12 carries. LSU QB actually played a decent game, going 22 for 38 for 261 yards and a touchdown. The ground game was alright from the Tigers, the leading rusher being Tyrion Davis-Price, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts.
Auburn @ #17 Arkansas
My Prediction: Auburn 31 @ Arkansas 35
Arkansas is a four and a half point favorite, according to the ESPN experts, and I think that sounds just about right. The game will come down to the fourth quarter and Arkansas will emerge victorious.
#20 Florida @ LSU
My Prediction: Florida 38 @ LSU 31
In the past 15 years or so, this game has had some weird endings, and it almost always comes down to the wire. Four years ago, it was a missed extra point that cost the Gators the game 16 to 17. Three years ago it was two game-winning interceptions by the Gators D that gave them the dub. Last year it was Marco Wilson throwing a shoe 20 yards down the field. This ended up costing UF the ball game. We are in for another instant classic.
#12 Oklahoma St @ #25 Texas
My Prediction: OKST 42 @ Texas 45
I like Texas to win by a very slim margin. I think Texas will have a down game after the historic loss that took place last week in the Red River Rivalry.
#11 Kentucky @ #1 Georgia
My Prediction: Kentucky 10 @ Georgia 27
The winner of this game will most likely go to Atlanta to play in the SEC Championship. I like Georgia to win this game, just because of their dominant defense.
TCU @ #6 Oklahoma
My Prediction: TCU 34 @ Oklahoma 32
This is a very bold prediction, but after such an ugly win versus Texas last week, I think the Sooners are prone for a letdown. Watch as TCU beats OU on Saturday.
Duke @ Virginia
My Prediction: Duke 20 @ Virginia 31
In an ACC clash early Saturday afternoon, watch a fun game unfold between two ACC foes.
