Bowling Season Wrap-Up

The Boys and Girls bowling teams had a great 2020 season

The 2020 season has been filled with hard work and dedication for the bowling teams, and has come to an end after districts. During the last event of the season, the Boys team placed 5th in the district. The boys fought hard to secure the afternoon event and just fell short. The boys team had a 5-3 record, missing a game due to being quarantined. The boys team had some ups and downs but some notable accomplishments like beating the State champions Astronaut High School in a tense match. Team member Tyler Wickfelder, 9, is optimistic about the future of the team.

“We did lose a few key players but I am confident in returning players to fill the gap and come back next year strong enough to have a good season,” Wickfelder said.

The Girls Team have continued to improve since day one of the season. The girls fought hard throughout the season with many reaching many personal accomplishments but were unable to secure a win. The girls team has become better bowlers and better friends throughout the season. Team Co-Captain Samantha Steele, 11, has enjoyed bowling and the team dynamic.

“The bowling team is a family,” Steele said. “The bowling team is always very supportive of each other both when we are doing well and when we aren’t.”

Bowlers will tell you that the most important part of the sport is mental rigidity. From being cool under pressure to repeating shots effortlessly time after time, bowling is built upon years of perfecting your technique to be effortless. Both the bowling teams have done amazing this year. Both teams improved and grew as bowlers and as people.
