Are you tired of your old music? These recent releases from February are for you
March 1, 2022
If your usual music has paled lately, don't worry! These recent releases are sure to add something fresh to your queue. From alternative to country, this list has something for you.
We're starting off with the album Give Me The Future. This album was a much-anticipated release from the well-known artist that goes by the name Bastille. It was released on February 13th, 2022. Give Me The Future is a tribute to humanity in a tech age and reflects on the strangeness of living through times that can feel like science fiction. Give Me The Future includes the following tracks: “Distorted Light Beam,” “Thelma + Louise,” “No Bad Days,” “Brave New World (Interlude),” “Back To The Future,” and more. Already these releases have been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and this album is sure to be another slam dunk for the alternative artist.
Moving on to another album, Ants from Up There. This album comes from up-and-coming alternative indie band Black Country, New Road. The English band emerged onto the scene with the release of singles "Athens, France" and "Sunglasses" in 2019. This album was released on February 13th and is essentially three songs within one, all of which relatively cover the emotions and moods that are on the album. It's hopeful and light, but still looks at some of the darker sides that the band's first album showed.
"Fundamentally, we relearned an entirely new style of playing with each other," said Black Country, New Road drummer Charlie Wayne.
Ants from Up There will include ten songs, all with no features.
Last but certainly not least, my personal favorite, the album Donda 2. This album is owned by the worldwide famous artist Kanye West. Ye, known formerly as Kanye West, has made so many hits over the years and is known for so many iconic songs, such as "Praise God," "Stronger," and "Heartless." This album was released on February 22. If you are like me and like rap, this is the album that's been on repeat for the last few weeks. This follow-up to 2021's 26-track collection named for Ye's late mother is the first sequel project in West's 10-album studio album catalog. With over 30 features, you get as close as possible to hit or miss. There are some great ones, including Playboi Carti, Fivio Foreign, Thugger, Travis Scott and The Weeknd. Lil Yachty had one of his best verses in a while.
February was full of exciting new releases in the world of music across a wide variety of genres. Give these new releases a listen to freshen up your Spotify queue.
