After a six-year break from making music, Adele is back. But what caused her to disappear in the first place?
After six long years, Adele's signature voice is back- and fans are ecstatic.
Adele is well-known for her outstanding songs and her amazing vocal skills. She has sold millions of albums worldwide and has won an incredible number of awards, including 15 Grammys an Oscar for best original song. Some of her top songs include “Hello,” “Someone Like You,” and “Rolling in Deep." But despite all of these accomplishments, Adele stopped making music after the release of her song "Hello" in 2015.
After such an illustrious career, why did Adele disappear? Well, medical issues relating to her voice have long plagued the singer. After releasing her album 25 in 2015, she embarked on an ambitious world tour, planning 123 performances. However, in 2017, with only two performances left to go, she began to notice problems with her vocal chords.
This wasn't the first time that Adele had experienced this issue.
In 2011, the singer began to notice pain in her vocal chords. She checked with her doctor and was told that she needed an extended period of rest to avoid permanent damage to her voice. She tried medication, but it didn’t help. As a result of her diagnosis, Adele was forced to cancel two tours that weekend in 2011. After the initial flare-up in 2011, the problem continued to follow Adele, finally prompting the cancellation of her 2017 tour and forcing her to retire from music to allow her voice to heal.
Luckily, however, in the three long years since her break from touring, Adele has been able to heal from her injuries. And this year, she shocked the world by releasing a new album. Despite the six-year gap between her last album and this one, her fans were eager to hear some new Adele! She released her comeback single, “Easy on Me,” on October 15, 2021. “Easy on Me” isn’t just a song. Rather, the lyrics serve as an explanation to the singer's son as to why Adele and her now ex-husband, Simon Konecki, were no longer together. She directs the song to her son and ex-husband, saying “You can’t deny how hard I have tried/ I changed who I was to put you both first/ But now I give up.” The album serves as a direct entreaty to her son and ex-husband to understand her reasons for leaving the relationship.
Was this song a hit or a miss? For sure, it's a hit. About 300,000 people watched the video premiere on YouTube. Within 12 hours, it had been streamed 12 million times. Many can understand and resonate with the feelings and emotions Adele expresses on “Easy on Me,” which has resulted in the song's immediate popularity.
Following the meteoric success of "Easy on Me," the album 30 rocked the music industry. It provided even more resounding hits, including "Strangers by Nature" and "My Little Love," which were immediately beloved by millions of fans. Now, the music industry is once again inundated with the soulful voice of this singer-songwriter combo.
Adele is one of the most amazing singers of the generation, and fans all over the world are excited and happy that Adele has come back to releasing music after six long years!
