AJR's new self-released album reaches #10 on Billboard 200

The theatricality of OK Orchestra leaves listeners satisfied

American indie pop trio AJR formed in 2005 and debuted in 2013 with their EP I’m Ready. Their most recent studio album, OK Orchestra, reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200 during the week of April 10, 2021 after a March 26 release date. It also peaked at number one on Billboard’s US Top Alternative and Top Rock albums. Their highest charting song, Bang!, reached a respectable 8th place on the Billboard Hot 100.

But while AJR's eclectic genre fusions have struck a chord with listeners around the world, the band has received its fair share of criticism. Some critics maintain that AJR songs have poor composition and weak messages, but it's clear that the band's popularity speaks for itself.

The artists have done plenty of independent work, including several self-directed music videos, some EPs and two albums. OK Orchestra was self-produced, like much of AJR's other work, in the band's NYC apartment.
