A MAGICALLY SPOOKY NIGHT

Disney's magical Halloween experience has returned. Here's what you need to know

September 30, 2021

This year, Disney is launching the 2021 After Hours Boo Bash! The event began on August 10th and continues on through October 31st. This exclusive event allows guests to experience the park after closing and enjoy the excitement with limited crowds.

The official hours of the event are 9:30 PM-12:30 AM, but the park allows guests to enter as early as 7:00 PM, allowing guests to prepare themselves for the fright-filled night sure to come. The Halloween-decorated park features live shows, dressed-up characters, and trick or treating locations, and offers guests full access to the park and rides.

Tickets are slightly more expensive than a typical day at Disney, beginning at $129, but they can vary depending on the night booked. What does this increased ticket price get you? Well, Disney has outdone itself this year to ensure that the Boo Bash event is something special. There are specialty foods and drinks available throughout the event, so if you skip on Boo Bash, you may miss something that you won't encounter during the day.

Boo Bash is taking place in Magic Kingdom and is a limited-capacity event, meaning that the park is at a fraction of its capacity to allow attendees to enjoy the entire park with significantly lower wait times. Special décor, lighting, and music set the tone for a spooky night. In addition, Cinderella’s Castle will be in a spectral glow.

Disney also will be offering festive photographs with Disney Photopass to capture the moment. With decorations all throughout the park, the scene is perfect for family pictures. Photographers are located at various locations around the park, such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Photopass makes it easy to have professional photos taken of your whole family, and special effects can be added to photos to enhance the scene, making for a frightening family portrait.

Children under 14 attending the event are encouraged to dress up for Trick-or-Treating stations located around the park, where they can fill up bags with candy. But unfortunately, adults are not permitted by the park to dress up for the event. So if you're over 14, save your costume for Halloween!

Of all of the attractions in Disney, probably the most iconic are the characters themselves. During Boo Bash, Disney characters such as Goofy and Chip 'n' Dale, will be making appearances around the park- but they'll be costumed in their finest Halloween regalia. Other surprise characters will pop up across the park, too- so you never know when you'll get the opportunity to interact with your favorite Disney characters!

It wouldn't be Boo Bash without live shows. Disney's live shows are fun no matter your age, and Disney has introduced some amazing performances this year, such as Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade, Disney Villain Halloween Cavalcade, Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade, Maleficent’s Fiery Prowl, Cadaver Dans in Frontierland, and Tomorrowland DJ Dance Party. Make sure to get a good seat!

Of course, just like at any other major event, precautions have had to be taken to minimize the risks of COVID. This year, face coverings are required indoors, including in all indoor attractions, indoor queues, and in enclosed transportation, though it is optional to wear one in outdoor areas. Park reservations are also required, which makes it easier for Disney to monitor people entering and exiting the park. Disney has always had a history of ensuring cleanliness in its parks, and during a global pandemic they've ramped up their sanitization measures to the max. There are various sanitation stations located around the park, and cleanliness is highly encouraged. If attendees have any symptoms of COVID-19, are self-quarantined, or have been in contact with someone ill, they may not be permitted to enter the park.

For all who attend, the Disney Boo Bash is sure to be a magical time. This once-a-year event allows guests to experience the park in a whole new way. From the unique atmosphere to the special treats to the minimal lines, Disney's Boo Bash promises to provide an unforgettably spooky experience.
