Girls Basketball

Throughout their season, the girls bonded and formed a new sense of team camaraderie

Edgewood’s girls basketball team may not have had a good season statistically, but they certainly had lots of fun and shared many memories together.

The girls finished the season with a 6-15 record and a -197 point differential. The girls defense was tremendous and played strong through both their wins and losses. The team overall had lots of fun and bonded over everything, everywhere. The girls have become close friends and made it through the season with jokes and laughter.

Jessica Hornung, 12, said that the team became really close friends compared to prior seasons.

“Each game was definitely a challenge," said Hornung. "But we managed to stay strong while also having a great time.”

Hornung also noted that the team joked and laughed over everything, so their hopes did not get beat.

“Even though we lost, it didn't make us stop playing, we still showed up to practice and stayed strong until the season ended,” she said.

Without the jokes and the closeness of the team, says Hornung, the season would not have been as fun as it was.

Outside of Hornung, the team is entirely made up of freshmen and sophomores, so the girls have more potential for future games. And with their newfound camaraderie and friendship, they're sure to have fun playing through the highs and lows together.
