Best Christmas Gift Ideas

Still stumped on what to get your friends? Here's a handy list

December 8, 2021

Christmas is coming quickly, and if you're like me, you've waited until the last minute to start thinking about what gifts to get for your friends and family. But don't worry! It’s not too late to find a fun gift to give to a friend. Whether you’re looking for something sweet and wholesome, or a gag gift, here are some great last-minute tips and ideas.

Do you know someone who loves music or is always singing? They might enjoy receiving a tiny microphone. This trend started on TikTok with users making all sorts of videos recording themselves with tiny microphones. Admittedly, it's pretty much a gag gift, but I think it's still pretty funny. They can sing songs into the mini mic, or if they use TikTok, they could make videos with it too.

On the other hand, a shower speaker might be the perfect gift to give them some backup if they happen to be a shower singer. A water-proof speaker can also be the perfect addition to a pool party. Luckily, here in Florida, pool parties can happen year round, making this an exceptional gift that never goes out of style.

If your friend is a huge fan of music and you know their favorite artist, finding a vinyl album is a cool way to let them listen to music and also makes for a killer piece of room decor. Target normally carries a wide variety of vinyl and other types of physical albums.

Are you looking for a gift for someone super artistic? One fun gift idea is a disposable camera. This gift makes for a unique way to preserve memories or even a new way to practice photography or gather reference photos. A string of fairy lights makes a great companion gift for them to hang up their future photo memories as well. This combination is a sure way to give them some charming personalized decoration for a space in their home.

If you know someone who is always drawing, I would recommend a set of ink pens. One good brand that is generally beloved by artists is Micron. These pens are great for lining small drawings in a sketchbook, or even for elaborate ink artwork. As an artist myself, I can also attest that one can never have too many sketchbooks. A mixed media sketchbook is a safe bet that allows artists to use a variety of mediums. If you know a painter, a new set of brushes would also be an excellent idea.

If you know a gamer, a new gaming mouse might be the perfect gift. If you're willing to put a little more into it, a LED gaming keyboard or a new headset are also great choices. Many gamers prefer to use a PC or a console, but if you know someone who plays a lot of mobile games, a portable charger could help them play on the go since gaming can take up a lot of battery life.

Gift cards are also a classic gift and work great if you know someone who buys games online. A gift card for Xbox, Steam, Nintendo, or Play Station would be appreciated by any gamer. And while we're talking about gift cards, finding one for their favorite restaurants, such as Chick-fil-A or Starbucks, is another fool-proof option.

Moving on, finding a gift for a sports fan can be tricky (especially if you're like me and don't know much about sports). I recommend a tumbler or hat with their favorite team on it, or if they play football, a high-quality leather football is what Brady Hill, 7, a fellow staff member and a sports fan, recommends. Further, some athletic gear is also a great gift, such as a new pair of athletic pants or shoes. This gives them a fresh look but supports them in whatever activity they enjoy, like running or playing their favorite sport.

Do you know someone who wakes up in the morning for their daily cup of coffee? A hand-held milk frother could allow them to experiment with making the perfect cup. This device has also gotten popular on TikTok with many popular frothy drink trends, such as Dalgona coffee. Even better, you could also throw in a personalized mug. This doesn't have to be expensive either. All you need is a plain mug and some markers, and you can put whatever you want on it. However, you'll need to make sure you follow a process to seal the design. Based on what markers you use, you can find instructions on baking the mug to ensure your artwork stays intact for as long as possible.

If you're not a big gift giver, this year might be the perfect time to find something small to show a friend that you appreciate them. It always feels good to spread kindness with generosity. Best of luck finding gifts this holiday season!
