Universal Changes

Universal is having some big updates in 2022

April 19, 2022

Universal Studios is one of the most well-known theme parks worldwide, created based off of the global success of the studio's many films. The park in Orlando, Florida is best known for its Minions, Shrek, and Harry Potter themed attractions, but there are a lot of new and upcoming things in Universal Studios that could shake things up a bit.

An update to the iconic ride "Revenge of the Mummy" is on its way. It’s not completely clear what is happening to the Mummy as of now, but some people predict that they may change it into a completely differently-themed ride. However, no construction has been done so far, which leads some to believe that the changes may only be superficial, such as editing the graphic design or the videos that play on the ride. We know for sure, though, that they are getting electrical system upgrades that are more up-to-date. In my personal opinion, I do not think they should change a single thing to the Mummy even if it is a graphic update because I think that's part of the charm of the Mummy.

Just recently, the "Meet Shrek and Donkey" ride has closed and is being changed into something completely different. It has been assumed that Shrek is going to be replaced with a new Minions ride, due to the minion paintings on the outside of the construction wall. I personally think that this won't be too great of an update to the park, considering that the Shrek ride doesn't have many fun mechanics to work with, but I am interested in what they will do with it.

Also in the works are a new seasonal Mardi Gras store and a new area in City Walk. The new features will include their Mardi-Gras merchandise and some other things as well.

In addition, Universal is introducing an entirely new experience to City Walk- an escape room. This is replacing The Groove, a previous dance club. The escape rooms will include classic monsters and other Universal-themed puzzles. This is something that I am excited to see because this will be something new for City Walk and I am very excited to see how it turns out.

Universal seems to hold some great new things in store for 2022, such as updates for some rides and new fun extras. The new year of 2022 is shaping up to be a great year for Universal.
