Tips to get your life organized and your work done.
Organization as a busy student can be a struggle. When you have an English essay due tomorrow, a Math test two days from now and a million other things fastly approaching, the state of your room and work space can be a reflection of your stressed out state. But taking the time to organize and create order in your space can clear your mind. Here are some tips to keep your space organized and get some work done.
Making Sure Everything Has a Place
Keeping your life organized means keeping your items in their proper place. When everything is in its proper place, you end up spending less time trying to find the tools for the job, and more time actually doing the job. Organization does not always mean making something look like an Instagram post. Organization is all about making sure that you can find something when you need it. Making your space picture perfect can be a benefit of organization, but should not be the main goal. Make sure that you can find everything you need and that everything has a place; then you can focus on making everything pretty.
Getting Into a Pattern
If you have a pattern of putting things in the right places and doing small tasks now so they do not snowball into much bigger tasks, you won't be left at the end of the week with a cluttered room By just putting your clothes in the hamper as you take them off, for example, you save a lot of time instead of having to clean your whole room at once.
Getting Rid of Things You Do Not Need
More stuff means more clutter. If you are never going to use something and it has no value to you, it has not reason to be in your life. If something has no value to your life, all it does is take away from valuable space in your home. By getting rid of the unnecessary, you are better able to cherish and appreciate what you already have.
Spreading Tasks Out
Organizing big, difficult tasks into smaller, more manageable tasks helps you to complete the task more effectively. If you break large tasks into smaller tasks it may help you get motivated much easier, and can help get your cogs to turn. Spreading the task out helps with the distribution of work and your desire to complete the tasks. If you split a whole book up into smaller sections, the book becomes much less of a hassle to finish.
Writing Things Down
Organized people rely on more than their memory to remember important details; they write important things down in a place they will be able to easily look back on. This is different for everyone, it could be an app on your phone or a planner. No matter what you choose to write in, you need to ensure you can look back to it easily and often.
Clearing Clutter
It's hard to work with your desk buried under twenty soda cans and whatever else happens to be thrown on to it. To get work done, you need a clear space dedicated to working. Clear off all of the unnecessary clutter in your workspace, it removes distractions and gives you more space to work.
Rewarding Yourself
If consistency is a challenge for you, you may be able to stick to something if you end up rewarding yourself. If you put a reward at every stopping point, you will want to keep going to get more rewards. The rewards you choose are solely based on what you find rewarding. It doesn’t really matter what your reward is, just that it is something that you are willing to work towards in order to achieve.
