- What makes people change? For example, if a person is shy, what might happen so that they aren’t shy anymore?
- Have you every gone roller skating? Think back to your first try at it - how did it go?

- Many times in a story characters change, just like real people can change. Characters can act one way in the beginning of a story and change into a different kind of person at the end of the story. How does Sebastian change?

- The story shared how Sebastian learned to roller skate, step by step. Think about what you have learned how to do yourself. Write out the procedure to teach someone else that skill. Remember, to use the transition words of "First, next, then, last" as you order your steps.
- Good readers know when a character is changing by paying close attention to the characters words and actions throughout the story. Think about or revisit the story and fill in the chart at the bottom of the section.

- Marvelous Me
1. On a plain piece of paper, draw a picture of yourself in the middle.
2. Write your name under your picture.
3. Now go through magazines and find pictures or words to describe you and show what you are good at. Glue them on the paper around your drawing. You can also look for those pictures and words on the Internet or draw them yourself. - Torn Paper Collage
A collage is a piece of art made by gluing different kinds of materials on to a backing. In the story, the illustrator uses torn paper to represent Sebastian's feelings in the book. As the story moves on the colors of those collages change.
Gather different colors of paper, magazine or newspaper images, and/or fabric to create a collage of your own. Things to think about:

- Use a sturdy piece of paper or cardboard to create your collage on.
- All of your pieces should overlap so that none of the background is showing.
- Use white glue to attach your pieces to your background. Using an old paint brush to apply it to the back of each item may help it dry more evenly.
- Tear your paper pieces rather than cut them to give your collage an interesting quality.
- Roller Skating
1. If you own a pair of roller skates, go outside and skate! Enjoy the fresh air and invite some friends to skate with you.
