All returning Andersen students are invited to participate in this year’s Eagle Reading Challenge. This year we are once again combining our summer challenge with the one sponsored through BPS and the United Way of Brevard. We’re excited to encourage all of you to become Reading Superheroes!

Your Mission:

•You are invited to choose 15 different reading challenges from the Summer Superhero Reading Challenge Sheet.

•Each challenge is based on a specific subject and can be completed by reading either a fiction or nonfiction title.

•You can search for those subjects in any of the digital resources you have available to you.

•As you complete each one, you will add a star to your Reading Shield. Directions for completion are included on the shield page.

•Titles and authors should be added to the reading log (you can use the United Way digital or printed reading log, or the Eagle Challenge Reading Log)

•Remember, each book you read for this challenge should meet the United Way challenge guidelines (K-2 a picture book, 3-6 a multi-chapter book) so it will count for both programs.

15 books read: Free paperback book from our first book fair of the school year

Remember, while books read to the student will be counted, students are encouraged to read as much as they can by themselves. Books, newspapers, comic books, and magazines are all appropriate reading materials. Be sure to keep checking back to the Media Page under Andersen Activities for new suggestions, resources, and additional ways to earn prizes this summer. All reading logs will be due to Ms. Hoffman one week after we return to school this year.

All electronic resources and e-books are available to enjoy at any time, including online video story times.

If you do not have a library card, call your local library. They have permission to issue library cards via phone with proper identification. You will need your driver’s license when you call. You may use these cards to check out eBooks and eAudiobooks.

Libraries will be open this summer.
